If you are currently
enrolled as a college student at another institution and you want to take
classes at Montgomery College to transfer back credits to your current
educational institution, you will need to:
- Submit an application
if you have not previously applied to Montgomery College. There
is a one-time application fee of $25. If you have previously
applied to Montgomery College but have not been actively registered in
classes for over a year, you may need to resubmit an application (no
additional fee is required) to reactivate your file.
|
- Students who wish to take courses at
Montgomery College to transfer back to their home institution must
submit a Letter of Permission OR documentation from
their home institution showing that they have fulfilled the
prerequisite(s) indicated in the current Montgomery
College Catalog for the course(s) they wish to take. Course prerequisites
often include eligibility to enroll in a college-level English or a
college-level math course. See the course description in a
current catalog for specific prerequisites. Students wishing to
enroll in Montgomery College courses may use unofficial transcripts
from their home institutions to show proof of meeting prerequisites.
|
- Students should discuss enrollment with a
Montgomery College counselor,
either in person or by phone. Letters of Permission or transcripts
showing prerequisites may be faxed or mailed to the counselor to
complete registration.
|
- Letters of Permission from a student's
home institution are not REQUIRED if the student provides documentation
that course prerequisites have been met; however, students must
understand that enrolling in a class at Montgomery does not guarantee
that the credits will transfer back to their home institutions. Students
are strongly cautioned to get permission from an adviser at their home
institution, either in writing by e-mail or through a formal Permission
to Enroll form, prior to taking a Montgomery College class. Students may
register for Montgomery College classes before securing that
verification. Even though courses may appear on ARTSYS as
transferable to Maryland institutions, once a student enrolls at another
school, permission to transfer MC credits must be granted in advance.
