Can a teacher bring more than two girls to Sonya Kovalevksy Day?

 

Most likely.  If you are interested in bringing more than two students, you will find a place to indicate this on the school registration form.  Once the initial registration closes, someone will contact you.  You will then be informed of how many spots are still open.  You will be asked to fax the additional registration forms ASAP.

 

Where should teachers (or parents) park when coming to Sonya Kovalevsky Day?

 

The south lot is the best place to park.  You may park in any student spot (marked by the white lines). After registration has been completed a parking pass will be emailed to each teacher.

 

I have special diet needs.  What can be accommodated?

 

Lunch will be assorted sandwiches (including veggie but not vegan), snack chips, dessert, and bottled water.

 

How will teacher substitutes be funded?

    Montgomery College has limited funds to pay for ten substitutes for MCPS teachers. MCPS teachers can apply for the funding by completing the Substitute Funding Request form and submitting with his/her registration materials. Notification of substitute funding will be made by April 9, 2010.

 

How long is the event?

    Registration begins at 8:00 am, and opening remarks begin at 8:30 am. The event ends at 2:00 pm.

 

Where is the event held?

    The annual Sonya Kovalevsky Day is held on the Montgomery College – Rockville campus. Participants should go to the Theatre Arts building upon arrival.

 

What is Sonya Kovalevsky Day about?

Sonya Kovalevsky Day is a one-day conference for registered 8th grade girls and their mathematics teachers. The event, held in honor of Sonya Kovalevsky, targets Montgomery County middle school girls and their teachers for hands-on career awareness activities.
