Students attending Montgomery College will pay tuition according to their residency. The Admissions and Registration Office determines the appropriate residency.

There are three types:

Residents of Montgomery County (Admissions Code 1)

Maryland residents from outside Montgomery County (Admissions Code 2)
Out-of-state residents (Admissions Code 3)

The tuition charges will affect your expenses if you are an out of county or an out of state resident. Please add the additional tuition and fee costs to your budget estimates for planning purposes.

The Financial Aid Cost of Attendance (Budget) reflects an average cost of attendance for a student attending college full time for an academic year as a Montgomery County resident who is a (an):

1. Budget for a Montgomery County Resident who is living with relatives during the school year 2009-2010

2.Budget for an In State Resident who is living with relatives during the school year 2009-2010

3. Budget for an Out of State Resident who is living with relatives for the school year 2009-2010

6. Budget for an Out of State Resident who is living away from home during the school year 2009-2010

Attendance
Students who receive financial aid must attend classes. Passing grades in classes are proof of attendance. Students who withdraw from all of their classes or fail all of their classes, and do not have any passing mid-term grades, may have aid removed. If the financial aid office cannot document student attendance for the semester, all financial aid for that semester will be canceled and you will owe a bill to the college. Financial aid will be canceled within 60 days of the end of the semester unless attendance documentation is provided. The canceled aid usually cannot be reinstated at a later date.

Full -time attendance
A student must register to attend a minimum of 12 bill hours from the Credit Classe Schedule for the semester in which financial aid is requested in order to be considered full time. Audit classes and Workforce Development classes are not taken for college credit and are not eligible to be counted for federal financial aid programs. Certain federal programs do permit students to receive aid if they are registered for less than full time, such as Pell Grants and Stafford Loans. Tuition and fees
The tuition and fees amounts used in the cost of attendance budgets reflect full time enrollment (a minimum of 12 bill hours each semester). The costs displayed in the tables below represent Montgomery County Residency. If you are a resident of another county or if you reside out of state, other tuition and fee charges apply.

Books and supplies
The books and supplies costs reflect an average estimate. We used information provided by a student survey conducted by the Office of Student Financial Aid and it is adjusted for full time enrollment. However, the costs of these educational items may vary based on the courses selected and the individual student.

Room and Board

Room and board refers to housing and food. The average expenses reported by students from our recent survey were used to construct average costs for these items. Individual expenses may vary from the average budget estimates.

Transportation
The transportation allowance is based on the average expenses a student may face based on the living status. There may be expenses for gas, auto maintenance or public transportation. Individual costs may vary based on the transportation available and the choices made by the student.

Personal

Personal s expenses include allowances for personal items such as clothing, toiletries and other miscellaneous expenses. These expenses may vary based on the individual student's lifestyle. The allowance is based on a reasonable estimate.

Twelve credits or 12 (bill hours) are the minimum number of hours calculated to be a full time student each semester. Certain types of financial aid programs require that you remain a full time student to receive aid. Other programs may adjust for part-time status or permit some students to receive aid if they attend college less than half - time.
