Evaluating Articles You Find

Once you select an ARTICLE, you need to see if it really will be useful to you. Read the first pararagraph or two to make sure you can understand it. Next, consider the CURRENCY, SCOPE and AUTHORITY of the article. In the following section taken from a a sample article, "Your Family," the color shadings show parts of the article you can use to determine if the article is current, what it covers, and whether it is based on reliable information.

So, this article seems to be up-to-date (though for some topics, 1999 might be too old), on topic, and based on research. It looks like it would be a good article to use for the paper. However, there is another way you might be asked to evaluate an article.
