Consumer Awareness Information

Montgomery College offers Commercial Driver Licensing Training CDL

Here is information you need to be aware of as you begin this rewarding training endeavor:

Enrollment Process

  • Begins with a pre-registration prescreen with the Program Assistant to fully explain program expectations and the enrollment process. Both are free and without obligation
  • Registration Requirements: DOT physical and drug screening, Maryland Drivers License and copy of your driving record, Maryland CDL Learner’s Permit, Full tuition (third party/agency funding documentation must include language including “authorization to bill”)
  • You must register a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the course start date. Scheduled courses are contingent upon enrollment minimums; ensure your eligibility with requirements and register early!

Key Student Expectations

  • At the end of each class, you will review your performance with your instructor. We encourage you to take advantage of this daily feedback process.
  • Cost of drug test is included in the cost of the program. You will be responsible for transportation to and from the training and testing site in Baltimore 11101 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley for classroom and 1000 Kembo Road near Ft. Smallwood Road for road/range.
  • You will be required to provide your social security number, proof of high school completion, and permit MC to provide CCBC with a copy of your registration, and finally grant MC permission to share your education outcomes with requesting employers or funding agencies.

Payment & Refund Policy

  • Payment in full is required before registering. Payments are accepted in the form of check, credit card, money order, or documentation from approved funding agency.
  • Most Continuing Education loans do not require schools to certify, therefore the loaned money is sent directly to the student upon approval. Therefore it is the student’s responsibility to apply and pay for the program with the loaned funds directly via check, money order, or credit card.
  • Students must pay in full to register. Montgomery College’s 6% Refund Policy applies: Students must drop the course within the first day of class, as will be noted on your registration confirmation. Failure to pass drug test is not refundable.

Job Placement

  • No formal program is offered through Montgomery College..
  • Experience is not a requirement for job entry; some companies prefer new drivers and offer job training programs.
  • Factors that can minimize job opportunities in the class A or B transportation industry: recent, violent or crimes sexual in nature; theft; and/or more than 3 points on your motor vehicle report.
