There are NO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SUMMER TERM CLASSES.
Look for scholarship information for Fall 2012 classes in early July.
Important Notice: To register to take the CNA, CMA, or Sterile Processing Technician course you first must pass the mandatory reading test and take the orientation that follows the test. For CNA and CMA you must be at least 18 years old and have a Social Security number. Then you must take and pass the Classroom portion and the Clinical portion. Note there are additional Requirements for CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant):
Certified Nursing Assistant - Classroom (Part I),
This
is Part I of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Certified Nursing
Assistant-Clinical is Part II. In this course, students will learn
basic nursing skills including taking vital signs, assuring patient safety,
and caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
After successful completion of the classroom and clinical portions, you
will receive an attendance award from Montgomery College. Upon the completion
of the CNA class, the student must complete an application and pay a
fee of $20.00 to the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON). If you wish to be
employed as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant, after completion of the course,
you may apply to take the Geriatric Nursing Assistant Licensing examination
for an additional $95.00. If you are taking this course at Asbury Methodist
Village, a background check, TB test, and drug test are required after
the mandatory reading test. The Hebrew Home requires a background check and TB test after the mandatory reading test.
Certified Nursing Assistant Clinical (Part II)
This course is only for students who have successfully completed Certified
Nursing Assistant - Classroom. All Clinicals are offered at long-term care
facilities in various locations close to the site of the theory classes.
Theory class locations include Asbury Methodist Village, Hebrew Home,
Montgomery Village, and Takoma Park/ Silver Spring Campus in the Health
Science Building.
Additional Requirements for CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant): Students must understand and meet all requirements and/or standards imposed by recognized professional societies and all contract requirements imposed on College students by the institution or agency where the clinical practice is to occur. Sterile Processing Technician This intensive course is designed for healthcare individuals who require professional knowledge in the field of sterile processing. It prepare you for the Registerd and Certification exams
